HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I'll be taking a short hiatus this week, returning to South Dakota to spend Turkey Day with my sis and our 88-year-old Mom. I'll be back next week with a fresh batch of B/G art. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

How to Have an Accident in the Home (1956)

It's no secret I love Disney animation. Even Disney's TV animation from the 1950s was beautifully conceived and rendered, and often rife with suburban California detail. Such is the case with "How to Have an Accident in the Home" (1956). Here's the opening Background art. Notice the house with the roof blown off!

Next, a wonderful "bird's eye view" pan B/G:

Street scenes:

The proverbial white picket fence, with rare and unusual character J.J. Fate...

OK, I admit it, this is a simple screen cap. But since Donald doesn't budge from his chair, I couldn't digitally erase him, and I just HAD to share this B/G. Look at the wonderful 50s styling!!!

A very messy stairwell...

A cluttered living room, pan B/G...

The "50 modern" bathroom...

Last but not least, the "50s modern" kitchen!

Imagine such beautiful artwork for TV production!!! That's the way Walt Disney did it...

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

It's easy to get mired in Disney's glorious past. We should never forget contemporary artist wrote new chapters of excellence in the Disney animation annals. One look at the varied styles of this magnificent artwork from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST reminds us just how superb contemporary Disney art can be.

AT HOME WITH DONALD DUCK (1956)

This background art is from interstitial material specially created for one of the early Disneyland TV shows, AT HOME WITH DONALD DUCK (1956). I'd never seen this before tonight. So I enjoyed seeing it, finally, as well as digitally recreating its B/G art. I hope you enjoy it too!
